DESCRIPTION: This award honors those district administrators, directors, superintendents, or supervisors who have made dynamic and significant contributions to the promotion of effective school library programs and services. It recognizes the significance of the role of the district administrator in developing successful school library programs within their own school districts that influence the community at large. This award is an effective way to highlight and encourage administrative support of school libraries, which is central to the FAME mission.
CRITERIA / ELIGIBILITY District administrators, directors, superintendents, or supervisors currently in administrative office and directly responsible for schools in their district, are eligible for nomination by a member of FAME.
APPLICATION / NOMNATION PROCESS: The individual making the nomination must be a member of FAME and must submit the online Nomination Form. Supporting letters by the nominator and three additional media specialists must be submitted, as well as supporting documentation such as newspaper articles, school committee minutes, quotes, budget figures or other documents that together illustrate that the nominee consistently advocates for school library programs, recognizes the need for certified school library personnel, appropriate support personnel and supports the central role of the school librarian in developing effective school library programs that promote student achievement. This award may not be presented if there is not a suitable recipient.
AWARD: plaque; Honoree will be recognized at the annual FAME conference.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Permission to publish the nominee's letter of support in the Florida Media Quarterly. Additionally, the winner will be highlighted on FAME's website.
2013 Deadline: Complete and submit the on-line nomination form by September 10. As soon as the on-line nomination form is submitted, an e-mail confirmation will be received. An additional e-mail from the FAME Awards Chair will include the Administrator's Award Identification Number. The Administrator's Award Identification Number must be used for all letters of support. All four supporting letters and additional documentation are due by September 15.

Congratulations to Ms. Bonnie Kelley, the winner of our FAME’s Administrator Advocacy Award. Her nomination letters list a myriad of accomplishments and document her tireless support for the Library Media Programs in Pinellas County. Those accomplishments and projects include:
- Project LEAD – a fellowship through Florida State University.
- County wide student literacy programs - including Middle School Book Talking expos, a massive Story Telling competition, Meet the Author live television broadcast, the Educational Media Awards and, the SSYRA Battle of the Books.
- Implementation of technology – including training, purchasing, and installation of Interactive Whiteboards using Smart Technologies, television production equipment, purchase of iPads, creating Library Moodles.
- Kindle Project - providing students with Internet access, textbooks, newspapers, magazines, and titles of fiction and nonfiction.
